Why Getting Assessed for Support at Home Now Just Makes Sense

The Old Problem: ITCF Was a Real Barrier

Under the old system, many people paid an Income Tested Care Fee (ITCF) of:

  • $20–$30+ per day

  • $140–$210+ per week

And that was paid regardless of how much support you actually used.

So people did one of two things:

  • Used more services than they needed to “get value”

  • Or avoided the system altogether and paid privately

    Both were completely rational.

What’s Changed: Clinical Care Is Now $0

Under Support at Home, the biggest shift is simple:

Clinical services now have no out-of-pocket cost.

That includes:

  • Nursing

  • Physiotherapy

  • Podiatry

    • and plenty of other services fall into this same clinical category

No daily fees. No income test impact.

What That Means for You

You can now access:

  • A nurse to monitor your health

  • Regular physio to maintain strength and mobility

  • Podiatry to prevent small issues becoming big ones

Without paying for those services.

The Decision Is Now Straightforward

Previously, the question was:

“Will we get enough value to justify the cost?”

Now it’s:

“Are there services available that could help us, at no cost?”

Bottom Line

ITCF made people think twice. $0 clinical care makes it a no-brainer.

If you’re eligible, getting assessed is no longer a financial trade-off, it’s simply a practical step.
